The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy is a youth development programs that serves about 20-30 young ladies between the ages of 11-14. The Academy provides monthly workshops and training on the following topic areas:

Leadership & Community Service
Self Esteem & Self Awareness
Academic & Career Planning
Goal Setting
Team Building

Academics will be stressed through the enhancement of their reading skills along with leadership development. In addition basic etiquette practices will be taught and practiced through various life experience exposures. The young ladies meet after school on a bi-weekly basis at a Camden City public/charter school.

Their activities will include:

Assisting with the Thanksgiving Project
Participation in the Kwanzaa Celebration
Community Service Project
Fellowship activities

The Academy will teach the young women to focus and reflect on the positive by challenging them to find something they can do or enjoy doing. We emphasize action and accomplishment rather than passivity and defeat.
