Educational Development



President

The Educational Development Committee is one of the busiest of our chapter and is the foundation of our Five Point Program Thrust. Each year we conduct projects designed to promote excellence in education in our schools and communities. In addition we offer scholarships to graduating high school seniors and merit awards to graduating eighth grade students in memory of two sorors from our chapter.

Our calendar is full as you can see from our planned activities:

  • SAT Prep Workshops for High school students
  • Story Time Reading
  • Tutoring
  • Financial Aid Workshops
  • Oratorical Contests
  • 8th Grade Essay Contest for students in our service area- Award savings bonds
  • Collecting Books for donation to a Library in Jamaica
  • Read Across America Project with High School and Elementary Students
  • Teen Summit on Educational topics
  • Project SEE Workshop with Delta GEMS and Delta Academy teens
  • Provide 8th grade Aletha Wright Merit Awards to Camden students- Award savings bonds
  • Award Julia Polk Parham Scholarships to graduating high school students in our service area
